How to Adjust Quantities in the Recipes
Forget about your calculator or scribbled calculations and recipe adjustments: Cariblend does it all for you! There are a number of cool ways to adjust the number of portions you create, and when you adjust the serving size, Cariblend doesn’t just adjust the quantities in the ingredients list, it adjusts any quantities mentioned in the instructions. Most of my recipes have been created for 4 people, so the first way to adjust the number of servings in the recipe is to hover your mouse pointer over the number “4” which appears underneath “SERVINGS” in the section between the green “Print Recipe” bar and the black-and-white Metric/US Customary selector boxes. A slider will appear (please see red arrow and circled area in the illustration to the right, above), and you can now slide it left or right to adjust the servings for any number of people between “1” and “20”.

How to Bookmark Recipes and Create Recipe Libraries
Cariblend allows you to create up to 10 recipe collections, with up to 10 bookmarked recipes in each.
When you bookmark a recipe, you can either save it to the Default Collection or to a collection of your own. You can create a new collection by clicking on the “NEW COLLECTION” button on the left-hand side of the recipe page, entering a name for your new collection in the drop-down box which appears, then clicking on the “ADD NEW COLLECTION” button at the bottom of the drop-down form (please see red circled area in the illustration to the right, above).
Now you can add the recipe to your new collection (or any other collection you have created) by selecting from the list which appears when you click the dropdown arrow on the right of the collection name box, then clicking the “ADD TO COLLECTION” button (please see red circled area in the illustration to the left).
Your bookmarked recipe will now appear in your chosen collection. You can access all your collections and bookmarked recipes by clicking the “MY BOOKMARKS” tab in the menu bar which can be seen at the very top of every page (white text on a dark blue background). Your bookmark will look like this:
How to Use the Reading Mode, Timer, and Meal Plan Features
At the bottom of each recipe page is a black menu bar with some very useful features. In addition to the “PRINT”, “SHARE”, and “thumbs up”/”thumbs down” rating buttons which you may have seen on some other websites, there are some features which you may not have seen before (the numbered paragraphs below relate to the numbers you can see in the illustration to the right).
- The red “START READING MODE” button brings up a page with the recipe ingredients and instructions filling the full width of the screen. This is useful if you want to take your phone, tablet, or laptop into your kitchen to look at whilst you are cooking.
- If there is a section in the instructions which says, for example, “simmer for 30 minutes”, then you can enter “30” into the minute box to the left of the blue “START TIMER” button, click on the button, and go away to do something else. After 30 minutes, your phone, tablet, or laptop will start beeping to remind you that the simmering time is up, and you need to move on to the next step in the instructions.
- You can add the recipe to a Meal Plan by clicking on the green “ADD TO MEAL PLAN” button. This will bring up a dialogue box which will allow you to add the recipe to a Meal Plan you have already created (select from the list which appears when you click the drop-down arrow in the box to the left of the blue “Add to Meal Plan” button), or to create a new plan (click on the green “Create New Meal Plan” button). Once you have created and/or selected your meal plan, click on the blue “Add to Meal Plan” button, and the Meal Plan will appear.
An icon for the recipe you just added will be sitting at the bottom of your Meal Plan (please see red circled area in the image to the left).
You can drag and drop the recipe icon to the Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner slots in any of the seven days of your Meal Plan (you can add the recipe to as many slots as you like).
Once you have filled your Meal Plan with as many recipes as you like, each day of your Meal Plan will display the total Calories, Carbs, Protein and Fat for each day of your Meal Plan (please see red circled area in the illustration below):
